A few nights ago I was so tired and it felt like the best thing to do was to go to bed, considering I had an early start the next day.
But I needed to finish a book I was reading. That was the goal I had set for the day.
I had several REASONS NOT TO, but I had MORE REASONS TO read the book.
You see, one of the reasons why many people are not fulfilling their purpose or living to their fullest potential is because they have MORE REASONS NOT TO than they do REASONS TO.
Your REASONS TO do a thing are the perceived benefits of that thing.
For instance: my REASONS TO read the book include: to learn, grow, impact more lives, inspire more people, improve myself, be a better person, be a better husband or parent, etc.
Your REASONS NOT TO, however, are the perceived cost.
For me, these include: I am tired, I am too busy, I have an early start tomorrow, no one would know, what if I read and I don't learn anything? Who cares if I read? etc.
Until your REASONS TO (perceived benefits) far outweigh your REASONS NOT TO (perceived costs), you will never get yourself to do the things you need to do to succeed.
Imagine a weighing scale with one side weighing your REASONS TO, and the other side, your REASONS not to.
Your REASONS TO must always outweigh your REASONS NOT TO.
From today, whenever you are caught between two words, whether you should do anything that will help you on your path of destiny, always think of the REASONS TO, more than the REASONS not to.
I believe in you.
