If you want to go far in life, you need this!

January 11, 2021
Be very careful if all the people around you are only validating you.

We live in a generation where we only surround ourselves with people who hail and praise us.
In the name of surrounding ourselves with positive people, we tend to only have people around us who tell us what we want to hear.
Listen, if you have no one around you that tells you off when you do wrong, I have bad news for you: your success won't last.
My father in the Lord, Pastor David Adelowo often say "the devil thrives in isolation". Meaning when we isolate ourselves from the truth and those who can boldly tell us the truth, we give room to the enemy to destroy us.

I have found this to be true.

Whenever you see lions looking for prey, they always aim for that one sheep that isolates him or herself from the herd...

Truth is this, we naturally do not like people who rebuke us and tell us the truth because the truth is bitter to the ears.
We prefer people who sugarcoat the truth and probably look away when we're doing wrong...
But if we're going to go far in life, we need mentors, leaders, pastors, coaches, parents, who are not afraid to call a spade a spade!
Some of them may have learned the art of doing it without getting us upset or hurting us in the process but I have found that some of those who get us upset while trying to correct us do so too out of genuine love.

As I write this, I want you to count the cost - who are those valuable people you have walked out of your life because they tell the truth to your face?

People you have termed negative
People you think don't like you
People you believe they don't know how to correct
People you think are too harsh, too strict, too hard on you...
Perhaps they genuinely love you after all...

You need those voices back in your life to balance all the sweet praises you now hear.
I reckon each of us needs at least 2-3 of those people in our lives who constantly check us...

Things to check:
1. They genuinely love me and want the best for me,
2. They always tell me the truth no matter what,
3. They don't know how to or are still learning how to tell me off without hurting me

If your answer to these questions is YES, you need to find a way to have them back in your life!
Amen to this?

If you are not sure about this post or have some questions, leave me a comment; I can help.

I believe in you.
